Curtain Placement: Why It Matters
Where you mount your curtain rod can dramatically influence how your space feels. It’s a small detail with a big visual payoff.
✔ Proper Mount (pictured left): Installing the rod higher and wider than the window frame draws the eye upward, creating the illusion of taller ceilings and a more spacious, elevated room.
✘ Low Mount (pictured right): Placing the rod directly above the window shortens the visual height of the room and can make even the best curtains look underwhelming.
Design Tip:
Mount your rod about 4–6 inches above the frame — or even closer to the ceiling — and extend it beyond the width of the window to frame the view and let in more natural light.
